This is the first item I ever designed and the first pattern I ever wrote up to share. Originally it was for sale in my Etsy shop (under a different name) but when I stopped selling on Etsy I decided to share it here with you all. I hope you love it as much as I do!

The Islander’s cowl is a soft, loose hanging cowl, knit up in five panels of textured stitches. Growing up on in the Pacific Northwest meant that I spent a lot of time on stormy winter beaches, island hopping up and down the coast. This is exactly the cowl I would have chosen to wear on those occasions. This cowl can also be pulled up over your head like a hood to protect against any rain that might threaten your winter’s beach walk.

I used two 50g skeins of yarn, but needed all the yarn to make the cowl long enough. If you want to knit and keep a swatch, you may need an additional skein of yarn.
