Isabelle is a shawl inspired by Isabelle Lightwood, a character in the Mortal Instruments novels by Cassandra Clare. Just like Isabelle, the shawl is a little bit feminine, a little bit kick-ass. Eyelets down the central spine and along the edges of the shawl allow for a multitude of lacing and ribboning options which you can swap to suit your mood, from pretty to steampunk.

Knit sideways there are no super long rows or hundreds of stitches to cast off, and the asymmetric edge is knit on as you work. Edging is written and charted.

Finished size is 130cm width, 40cm deep

You will need:

Yarn:
400m (or more) of a high silk content yarn (or another base that is shiny and smooth like merino/tencel). The edging blocks flat but I can’t vouch for it staying that way if you use other bases.
Notions:
2m of ribbon 15mm wide, 4m of ribbon 7mm wide. I recommend velvet or organza - satin tends to slip too much.
