This scarf design is based on descriptions of girls wearing what was called a ‘cloud’. The stitch is a slightly simplified version of a stitch pattern used to knit clouds and there are two lovely luxurious tassels to weight it enough so that it stays warmly wrapped even in a strong breeze.

For it you will need one skein each of Renaissance Dyeing’s Blue Faced Leicester wool in shades Shocking, Cherry Coloured Twist and African Violet. This is a lovely fine lustrous wool and the vivid colours are dyed with natural dyes - cochineal and indigo. The colours are warm just to look at.

The stitch is simple enough to be easily memorised but interesting enough to make the scarf fun to knit.
