Interlock Cowl
The Interlock Cowl is knit with bulky yarn and brioche stitch to create a simple yet decorative cowl. The interlocking design is made by knitting the cowl in two pieces, then looping them together and joining. It’s a quick knit with a luxurious chunky yarn. It takes only a day to whip up this warm and cushy neck warmer.
.
Yarn
Chunky weight (#5 Bulky).
Shown here: Lorna’s Laces Cloudgate (90% superwash merino wool, 10% nylon; 120 yd 110 m/3 1⁄2 oz 100 g): 14NS denim, 2 skeins.
Needles
Size U.S. 10 1⁄2 (6.5 mm): 24” (60 cm) circular (cir).
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions
Waste yarn; stitch holder; spare needle in same size; tapestry needle.
Gauge
12 sts and 32 rows = 4” (10 cm) in pattern st, blocked.
Note: Since each stitch is worked only once every two rows, the number of rows actually worked is double what it appears to be.
Notes
The cowl is knit in 2 pieces and joined using three-needle bind-off (see Glossary). The first loop is knit and then the second loop is slipped through the first loop to connect the two pieces before the second loop is joined together.
