Designed for a single skein of sock yarn, I knit this small shawl with Desert Shades yarn from Dyelicious Yarn .

The stocking stitch body and simple lace border works well with the multi-coloured yarn, and would also look lovely in a gradient, a solid, or a tonal colourway. The simple shaping makes the design flexible enough to be knit in yarns of different weights and fibres—it would be a lovely Summer accessory worked up in cotton or a cotton blend.

This is an intermediate project. The techniques you will need to know, or learn, to complete this project are:

• garter tab cast-on (instructions included in pattern);
• knit and purl;
• kyok double increase;
• yo increase;
• k2tog decrease;
• ssk decrease;
• cdd double decrease;
• stretchy bind-off (instructions for lace bind-off used on the sample are included in pattern).
