In the Colorworks by Debi Ravelry group, we have enjoyed monthly KALs for over 5 years! Now it’s time for a break. We ended the run with a bang by working another of the popular InfiniPATTERNS. (See InfiniTAMS, InfiniCOWLS, InfiniCHRISTMAS, and InfiniCATS.) Here, we give you InfiniSOCKS. And, it’s all about geometry this time around, knitters. You have lots of motifs from which to choose. Mix them. Match them, create an all-over design, add words and numbers. Throw color choices into the mix, and you have infinite possibilities-- infinite sockibilities? The instructions will include two blank sock charts for each size to help you create your own, unique sock design using the motifs given---and use your imagination!
The participants in the knitalong had the choice of knitting one of 5 different sock sizes, all of which are included in this pattern. They drew their designs on the blank charts provided, mixing and matching from the geometric motifs included. Some of our talented participants (and they all are!) went a bit further, incorporating words or motifs from other patterns. Although I suggest using the Sweet Tomato Heel, some knitters opted to use a different heel design, and some of these are also pictured in the pattern so you can see just how limitless infiniPATTERN designs can be! In this mega-pattern, you will find instructions for all the five sock sizes, (which can be tweaked by going up or down needles size or yarn weight) plus dozens of geometric motifs, numbers, and alphabet (upper and lower cases). You can mix and match as you choose, horizontally or vertically, or you can use just one or two and repeat them throughout your project. As stated above, two blank charts are included for each size, so you can draw out your choices. You might want to print some extra copies for future use. As with all of the infiniPATTERNS, the possible combinations, especially once you add in color options, are virtually infinite.
