Circular shawl with bobbled spokes and a cog edging, meant to evoke a fantastical brass gear.

It is constructed from the center outwards, with pi-shawl increases and a variety of simple openwork stitch patterns. The turreted, garter-stitch edging is knit on around the edge at the very end.

You can wear it as a small shawl, fastened with a brass pin, or you can fold it in half and knot it about your neck as a scarf. Also makes a splendid lap blanket.

“Industrial Revolution” was originally released as part of The Sanguine Gryphon’s Fall 2010 Steampunk pattern line, then re-released as a self-published pattern in January 2012.

Errata on the original September 2010 version: (1) At the end of the Outer Columns section (after you finish the openwork pattern and purl two rows) the round written as “(Yo, k2) to end” should be “(Yo, k2tog) to end”. (2) On the Chart Key, the symbol for the purl stitch should read “purl on RS, knit on WS”
