If I Was Your Girlfriend
I’ve often knit a basic triangle shape to use up a pretty hank of yarn and thought it might be an idea to write the pattern down somewhere.
Conscious that our Men’s Issue’ of Olann and was in need of something a little less testosterone filled, I jotted down some notes. The name is inspired by one of my all time heroes Prince and a tongue in cheek play on all the ‘boyfriend’ wardrobe staples - boyfriend jeans, boyfriend jumper.
If I Was Your Girlfriend, takes less than one ball of sock yarn and can be easily adapted to any size you prefer.
My original design took a full 4oo+ metres of sock yarn with a contrasting shade for the border and is much more like a shawl. I was worried that a man might not wear something so large and wanted to demonstrate the versatility of the triangular shape.
The pattern begins with a garter stitch tab and follows an ever increasing band pattern alternating between blocks of stocking stitch and moss stitch.
Please Note: The side increases on both the front and back, are always worked in knit.
