Idlewild is the name Anne of Green Gables gives to the playhouse she shares with Diana, set amongst a ring of white birch trees in what Anne describes as “the most romantic spot”. Romantic is right; in deep red with tiny spots of pink and with ever-deepening rings of petal lace, Idlewild nods to the beauty of nature.

The same petal lace and deep red yarn were used to knit Roseability, a garment design of mine (coming July 2022!), which is named after a song by the band Idlewild. The two patterns are intrinsically linked - one might even say kindred spirits.
