The short, easy repeats of this pattern makes it simple and soothing to make. After just a few rows, you will barely have to look at the pattern, and it’s so pleasing to see the design develop as you knit.

Great for gift knitting, too! With 5 sizes to choose from, you can make this hat for the whole family.

You have the choice of working from the color chart or from full written instructions, whichever you prefer.

Sizing: Child, adult S/ M/ L/ XL

Yarn: You will need approximately 35 (45, 55, 65, 75) g main color and 15 (20, 25, 30, 35) g contrast color.

Gauge: 32 stitches and 28 rows to 4”/ 10 cm in pattern. The colorwork draws the stitches closer together than if you were working in stockinette stitch, more so horizontally than vertically. To give you an idea of the extent to which it draws in, my own gauge using this yarn and this needle size in single-color stockinette is 24 sts and 28 rows/ 4”. You should still do your own gauge swatch in order to ensure that the hat fits as you wish! If you are not familiar with working a gauge swatch in the round, this web page provides good instructions: https://www.purlsoho.com/create/swatching-for-circular-ga...

Needles: US 6/ 4 mm, or size to obtain gauge. This hat is worked in the round. The sample was worked on 16”/ 40 cm circular needles and then double-pointed needles when the number of stitches decreased for the crown shaping.

Pattern support: Designer email is included in the pattern in case you have questions.
