Ice Cave begins with a simple, 2 color intarsia border. Once the border is complete the center lace section is picked up and worked in short rows until the total width is worked. A final ribbed border is added to the top to pull it together.

Because of the way the triangles are worked it is not necessary to cut either color during the entire edging and only two balls are used so you don’t have to manage a thousand tiny bobbins. This was designed as a first time intarsia project. The center lace panel is worked in columns, which makes keeping your stitches straight SO much easier and the final ribbed border is knit right on to the piece. NO SEWING required!

I love the drape and feel of bamboo, but any fingering weight yarn will work as long as you like it.

I used three different colors, one full skein of each. If one were feeling adventurous, you COULD make each triangle a different color very easily and give it more of a party bunting feel.
