I Spy a Crocus
The Dale yarn used in the sample - Cotinga, a merino / alpaca blend - is no longer available. Substitute with any similar soft, smooth, worsted weight yarn with a ball band gauge around 18 stitches over 4” 10cm. (Of course, you’ll knit your hat at the pattern’s gauge.) You’ll want 3 different-colored, 50g balls.
Get your colorwork gauge on the largest needle; then, select the next two sizes down for the trim.
For those who knit on the loose side, I recommend:
Largest: US size 5 / 3.75mm
Medium: US size 4 / 3.5mm
Smallest: US size 3 / 3.25mm
For those who knit on the tight side, I recommend:
Largest: US size 6 / 4.0mm
Medium: US size 5 / 3.75mm
Smallest: US size 4 / 3.5mm
Note: I used one long circular needle with the “magic loop” technique, but you can use two circulars, or double-pointed needles, if you prefer.
