I’ve named this little toy Hugs because he’s always ready for a cuddle – his arms are open wide for that big hug! And once he’s given you that hug, you can’t help but feel a little bit better.

CONSTRUCTION
The two pieces of the body are knitted from the bottom up in rows and joined together.

TECHNIQUES USED
Cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease, cast off. Joining seams. Optional but recommended to create the feeling of joy when joining your pieces: mattress stitch.

YARN
One 50g ball of DK weight yarn for one toy.
To felt the Hugs Toy the yarn needs to be 100% wool and not super wash.
The yarn used is 125m per 50g but not all the yarn was used it took about 93m

SUGGESTED KNITTING NEEDLES
4mm.

NOTIONS
Stuffing and two eyes.

GAUGE (tension)
22 stitches and 28 rows to 10cm/4ins square over stocking stitche. I obtained this gauge with 4mm needles.
It is important to obtain gauge so do swatch and change your needle size to achieve the correct gauge if you need to.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Measurements before felting: head to foot 24cm/9½ins.
