Hugo
While pregnant with my second child – my hard-won, rainbow baby – I was inspired to knit him a bonnet. It needed to meet all of my usual knit criteria: simple, with small and unusual details, and enough give to fit for a little longer than is the average. I knit a prototype, we
chose a name for our unborn, and the two fit together perfectly. Hugo (the bonnet) was born! Hugo the baby made us wait much longer.
HUGO is knitted flat, worked from the front ribbing to the back, and then joined using a 3-needle bind off. Stitches are then picked up around the neckline in order to make a ribbed neckband. It has two buttonholes to allow for a better fit.
