✨ The Story Behind Your Next Knit

I lived in a little surfing and fishing village on the coast of Peru for about six months called Huanchaco. This town holds a beloved spot in my heart. I loved watching the sunsets, the waves, and attempting to surf (I only actually stood up on the board once! I was better at just sitting on the board and letting the waves push me to shore!). This shawl is named after that town, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Here’s the magic: mosaic knitting makes complex-looking colorwork surprisingly easy—you only work with one color at a time! This shawl is worked from the top edge down, creating a versatile accessory you’ll enjoy wearing and sharing.

🧶 Quick Highlights:

  • Difficulty: Intermediate (knowledge of how to work mosaic colorwork is helpful)
  • Techniques: Mosaic knitting (slipped stitches), simple increases, I-cord cast off, garter stitch.
  • Construction: Worked from a corner with increases along one edge.
  • Special Features: Three-color design, oversized, easy mosaic colorwork, charted instructions (does not contain written instructions for the colorwork charts), versatile shawl shape
  • Yarn Weight: Fingering weight.

📐 Sizes & Finished Measurements:

  • Size: One size
  • Actual Measurements:
  • Depth: 27” (69 cm) Length along top edge: 72” (183 cm)
  • Tip: Exact gauge is not critical, but a significant difference will affect the final size and yarn requirements.

  • C3: “Winter Purple” (approximately 299 yds (273 m); 86 g (3.0 oz) needed)
  • Or similar weight yarn to achieve gauge

🥢 Needles:
