Homebody is an easy to knit, easy to wear triangular shawl. Worked from the top down in The Fibre Co Arranmore Light, Homebody is the shawl you will reach for when feeling the chill, walking the dog, dashing to the store, cutting flowers from the garden or veg from the plot. Homebody is more than a shawl; it is a hug from nature, a reminder that home is where the heart is, where we are safe and cherished and a shawl that is a protective hug with a whole lot of love in every stitch.
REQUIREMENTS
Size: As written 74” (188cm) wide, 26” (66cm) deep before blocking and 93” (236cm) wide, 31.5” (80cm) deep after. Measurements taken using The Fibre Co Arranmore Light. Note that measurements will differ depending on yarn, tension, blocking etc and these are therefore given as a guide only. I blocked very gently this time, merely stretching the damp shawl into the correct shape and leaving it to dry.
Yarn: The Fibre Co Arranmore Light. You will need two skeins of Yarn A and one skein of Yarn B.
Circular Needles: 4mm (US6) and 5mm (US 8) about 1m in length or needles to create a pleasing fabric – your fabric should not be too dense and should have good drape.
You will also need: stitch markers, needle (for weaving in ends), blocking pins and mats.
Gauge: The gauge achieved was 20.5 sts to 4” before blocking and 17 sts to 4” after a very gentle block, really just smoothing the damp shawl out evenly and ensuring straight lines – measurement taken over stocking stitch using 4mm (US 6) needles.
A looser gauge will result in additional yardage requirements.
The pattern is both fully written and charted.
If you like my designs please join us in the Boo Group where you will find a place to discuss my patterns, show off your knitting and hear about KALs and MKALs.
Patterns already set up by KnitCompanion can be purchased, in the KnitCompanion Store, for knitters who like to use KnitCompanion, but prefer to have their charts already set up. Please note that this pattern will only be available via KnitCompanion after the MKAL is completed.
