Holly Bonnet
Holly Bonnet is a baby bonnet worked in a detailed lace pattern with bobbles along the brim. The bonnet is
worked back and forth from the back neck towards the face using either 1 strand of Merino, Cotton Merino
or Pure Silk, or 2 strands of Compatible Cashmere held together. The bonnet is finished with i-cord ties and
an i-cord edge along the bottom.
The Holly lace pattern is charted only.
Sizes: Preemie // 0-1 (1-3, 3-6, 6-9, 9-12, 12-18) months to fit head circumference: 28-31 // 32-36 (35-40,
39-44, 41-46, 43-47, 44-49) cm 11-12¼ // 12½-14¼ (13¾-15¾, 15¼-17¼, 16¼-18, 17-18½, 17¼-19¼)“
Finished measurement: Length along bobble brim: approx. 24 // 27 (27, 30, 33, 33, 36) cm 9½ // 10¾
(10¾, 11¾, 13, 13, 14¼)”
Yarn: Either 1 strand of Knitting for Olive Merino, Cotton Merino or Pure Silk (250 m 273 yd / 50 g 1.8
oz), fingering-weight yarn, 1 // 1 (1, 1, 1, 1, 1) ball, or 2 strands of Knitting for Olive Compatible Cashmere
(150 m 164 yd / 25 g 0.9 oz), lace-weight yarn, 1 // 1 (1, 1, 1, 1, 2) ball(s). You will need approx. 12 // 16
(18, 20, 22, 24, 26) g 0.4 // 0.6 (0.6, 0.7, 0.8, 0.8, 0.9) oz of yarn. Sample is in Merino in Cream colorway
Needles: 3 mm / US2.5 circular and double-pointed needles, or in size to obtain gauge
Gauge (after blocking): 28 sts and 36 rows = 10 cm 4” in Holly pattern (Chart A) with 3 mm / US2.5
