Inspired by a sweater the designer found at a thrift store, the Hillwood Sweatshirt is a great option for a first sweater. Featuring the simplest of colorwork in bright tones, it’s knitted in stockinette stitch in the round.

Finished Size 41 (45.25, 49, 53¼ , 57, 61.25)“ bust circumference. Pullover shown measures 45.25”; modeled with 11.75” of positive ease.

Yarn HiKoo CoBaSi Plus (55% cotton, 21% elastic nylon, 16% bamboo, 8% silk; 177 yd/3.5 oz): #033 red hat purple (purple; MC), 3 (3, 4, 4, 4, 4) skeins; #054 vavavavoom red (CC1), 3 (3, 4, 4, 4, 5) skeins; #082 cerulean (blue; CC2), 3 (3, 3, 3, 3, 4) skeins. Yarn distributed by Skacel.

Needles Sizes 7 (4.5 mm) and 9 (5.5 mm): 16” and 32” circular and set of doublepointed. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notes The body of this pullover is worked in the round from the lower edge to the underarm, then the front and back are worked separately back and forth. After the shoulders are joined, sleeve stitches are picked up and the sleeves are worked in the round from the top down.
