Hidden Delight Lacy Camisole
Front and back central panels are knitted first, from the top toward the waist; knitting changes direction as stitches are picked up from the sides of the central panels with extra stitches cast on between panels for neck and shoulder strap, knitting outward toward the underarm shaping. The neck at the top of central panels and the eyelet border on the shoulder straps are cast on and bound off with yarn held double; this reinforces the no-finish selvedges at straps and neck, and the underarm selvedge has a delicate fluted shaping. Lacy trim for the hips is knitted lengthwise before picking up stitches for an eyelet above the straight edge of the trim. Finally, the camisole waist is attached to the hip trim with a three-needle bind-off. All finishing is incorporated in the knitting as the work progresses, but a few threads will require sewing in. Directional knitting allows the camisole to be tried on as you knit.
