Herringbone Lace Socks
by Ann Budd
Sizes - Child med/lge & Adult sm/med/lge
These comfortable socks are worked with a relatively simple 6-stitch lace pattern around the leg and along the instep. The pattern begins on the very first row after the stitches are cast on, which forms pretty scallops along the top edge. Normally, this lace pattern would have very little stretch because there are no ribbed stitches incorporated into the repeats. But because the yarn contains some elastic, the stitches have plenty of stretch and resilience, even without ribs.
