Notes
Like its little sibling, Brandur, Hellisey gets its name from a tiny, craggy, volcanic island off the southern coast of Iceland in the Vestmannaeyjar archipelago. This cozy circular yoked pullover is inspired by Icelandic Lopapeysa style sweaters, but with a few notable differences. It’s worked from the top down, which allows for easy customization. Short-row shaping in the back yoke ensures a comfortable fit at the neckline, and gentle waist shaping keeps the silhouette relaxed but neat. Super-plush Malabrigo Chunky makes this a quick and snuggly knit.
Tips
-Be sure to swatch both in plain stockinette and the stranded colorwork pattern to ensure that your gauge matches for both. To keep your floats relaxed, go up a needle size (or more) for the colorwork sections if necessary.
-You’ll need needles for working small, medium, and large circumferences in the round for this sweater. If you prefer to use Magic Loop for small circumferences, you can forgo the 16”/40cm and/or DPNs in each size.
-On any round after working short rows, work wrapped stitches together with wraps as you come to them.
