Helix Herringbone Hat
This pattern was originally published for Club Dragonfly in November 2012. The copyright has now reverted back to me, and I am happy to share it with you. Enjoy!
I’ve always felt that the variegated yarns made by Dragonfly Fibers cry out to be worked in patterns that will pool the color families. When making a hat, the trick is to find a stitch pattern that uses up just the right amount of yarn over the number of stitches that fits your head.
The Horizontal Herringbone Stitch by Barbara Walker creates an attractive, strong horizontal motif, and eats up just the right amount of yarn to pool the colors. Using a helix knitting technique allows you to have an uninterrupted flow from beginning to end.
