Heirloom Crochet Baby Bib
Pattern is available for free.
This is one of my “rescue patterns” as I am not the original designer for this style of bib. That clever person seems to be lost in the mists of history - thank you, whoever you were!
This bib came to me because a woman in South Africa had the original bib (an antique and family heirloom) and there was no pattern for her to make another. She sent it to me after my attempts to work it out from a photograph failed and with the aid of a magnifying glass I deciphered how it was made.
Although it looks delicate it is a very durable and practical bib that will last well enough to become a family heirloom for you too, even if you do use it.
I have copied the original design almost exactly. The construction is the same, as are all the design elements. I have made a couple of small refinements to the pattern, though, and adapted as necessary for modern threads.
Yarn:
50g ball of DMC Cebelia size 10 or similar
