Construction Notes
Worked from the heel, this sock design includes an extra-stretchy instep for a more comfortable fit across the ankle. The heel begins much like a toe-up sock with increases to shape the heel. A flap is then worked in half-double crochet ribbing to the desired length across the instep. The foot is worked by crocheting around the bottom opening, into the the sole stitches and ends of rows on the bottom edge of the instep. The rest of the foot is worked similarly to a leg-down sock. Crochet the leg by working around the top opening, which includes the rear foot stitches and ends of rows on the top edge of the instep.
