Named for the velvety soft and beautiful plant (Stachys), these mitts are knit using a multitude of fun techniques (lace, lateral braids, a modified nupp, etc.) and work up fairly quickly. Perfect for using up project leftovers or finding use for that one skein of gifted yarn you have had no idea what to do with, these make a lovely gift for others as well as a wonderful addition to ones personal winter accessories wardrobe.

Details

This pattern contains both charted and written row-by-row instructions, for your convenience.

The original yarn used (Woolfolk Luft) is a bulky weight knit more tightly than its suggested gauge. Bulky/chunky, aran, and heavy worsted weight yarn for this mitt. Unless they are knit to be longer than written, these mitts use up between 80 and 95 yards of aran weight yarn.

Two sizes are available- small and medium. They are differentiated by gauge- the small has a gauge of 20 st/4 inches, while the medium is 18 st/4 inches. The mitts pictured are the size medium.

Pattern modifications are included if you wish to make your mitts mirrored.
