These slip stitch/garter mosaic style hot pads work up fast and are a joy to watch come together! Try high contrast for a bright pop in any kitchen décor.
This pattern works great in cotton or hemp yarn to stand up to the heat – but could also be done in acrylic or wool for a blanket square.
Since this is a garter pattern, to get started, you only need to know how to slip a stitch and knit a stitch, and you’re ready!
This pattern has been tested and was found by most testers to be an advanced beginner project - it takes a little sorting out to get started, but once the flow is established, the project works up quickly and intuitively.
Finished in about 5 hours, these make great last minute gifts.
Gauge is not supplied, but can be changed by using different needles/yarn weight. Taking a look at some tester projects should give a good idea of sizes you can accomplish by using DK or worsted weight yarn.
