Hearts and Bunnies Cardigan
The Hearts and Bunnies cardigan pattern is back! And now with an extended sizing range!
This gorgeous little cardigan was originally designed as an homage to one of Susan’s favourite films, Chocolat, as the sort of garment which would be worn by Vianne’s daughter, Anouk. It is also inspired by traditional children’s cardigans, with a neat crew neck and raglan armhole shaping. but with the added interest of both Fair Isle and Intarsia sections and even knitted buttons to resemble bunny tails as an option.
The cardigan is knitted flat in one piece due to the intarsia bunnies across the body of the cardigan, followed by elegant raglan shaping worked at the armholes and finally a neat crew neck to finish. Instructions are provided to knit the sleeves either flat or in the round depending on your preferred method and then the buttonbands and neckband are picked up and worked to complete this delightful project.
Hearts and Bunnies is knitted in our flagship fingering weight yarn, Excelana North, formerly called Excelana 4 Ply, a blend of Northern England Cheviot and Bluefaced Leicester wools which create a soft, warm and snuggly fabric. Excelana North is available in 50g skeins with 159m/166yds per skein. Whilst we love Hearts and Bunnies in the colourway shown, if you would like to knit this cardigan in other shades, why not take a look at all the beautiful hand-dyed shades of Excelana North
Our two year old model is wearing the 4th size for age 4 years, deliberately oversized to maximise the period of time our little model can wear this cardigan for. The pattern includes instructions for eight sizes from 1 to 8 years of age and includes both written and charted instructions plus a clear schematic diagram and sizing chart.
