Heartland Marsh

Inspired by the little known wetlands of Indiana, USA, Heartland Marsh uses stranded knitting, stripes, and gansey inspired motifs to create a warm and rustic mitten that recalls my local landscape.

Gauge
20 sts and 25 rounds to 10cm / 4in over stockinette in the round.
Use a 4.5mm / U.S. 7 needle as a starting point for swatching.

Size
To fit average adult hand, with 18-20cm / 7-8in circumference

Pattern Notes
These mittens are worked from the bottom to top. Beginning with the cuff, a rolled hem is worked, followed by 1x1 ribbing. The front and back of the mitten’s body features a stranded tree motif, which is worked simultaneously as the thumb gusset increases. Lastly, the thumb is worked separately.
