Hearthside Slippers
Cozy up by the hearth in these slippers! They boast an eye-catching colorwork cuff (choose from 3 designs), seamless construction, and an extra comfy double-knit sole. The cuff is lined for added warmth and can be folded down for another look.
A simple, crocheted border around the sole and cuff adds style and structure. Full instructions for working the crocheted border are included in pattern. (No prior crochet experience needed!)
NOTE: This pattern uses the double knit stitch (as opposed to double knitting). It’s not difficult and creates a great, thick and squishy sole!
Techniques used:
Working flat and in the round. German Short Rows (full instructions included in pattern). Picking up sts. Crochet chained border (full instructions included in pattern). Stranded colorwork (although the colorwork design uses 3 colors, only 2 colors are worked on any round.)
Sizes:
S (M, L, XL, XXL) to fit US adult shoe size:
W’s 5-6 (W’s 7-8, W’s 9-10, W’s 11/M’s 9-10.5, M’s 11.5-13)
Fits Foot Length:
8.75 (9.5, 10, 10.75, 11.5)” / 22 (24, 25, 27, 29) cm
Cuff Height: Approximately 5”
NOTE: Size ranges are most form-fitting on the upper shoe size. If you are in between sizes, size down for the best fit.
Yarn:
The colorwork designs use varying amounts of C1, C2, and C3. The amount listed is enough to work 1 pair in any colorwork design. Please note:
Chevron uses approximately 20% less C1 and 10% less C2.
Snowflake uses approximately 10% less C1 and C3.
Argyle uses approximately 15% less C2 and C3.
Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Superwash Bulky:
C1 (Sole - Dark):
120 (130, 140, 150, 170) yds / 110 (119, 128, 137, 155) m
C2 (Shoe - Medium):
115 (120, 130, 140, 160) yds / 105 (110, 119, 128, 146) m
C3 (Lining - Light):
130 (140, 150, 160, 170) yds / 119 (128, 137, 146, 155) m
Note: If substituting yarn, please note that Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Superwash Bulky is thinner than a traditional bulky yarn. It knits up more like a thick Aran weight yarn. I recommend against using any yarn thinner than Aran weight as you want a dense fabric.

8 sts (4 sts as seen on the RS) and 10 rows (5 rows as seen on the RS) = 1 inch with US 6

5 crocheted sts = 1 inch with size H crochet hook
Colorwork Cuff & Lining:
Approximately 5 sts and 6 rnds = 1 inch with US 8 (colorwork) & US 7 (lining)
