Heartbound Again
This pattern can be found in my 2016 book Double or Nothing: Reversible Knitting for the Adventurous.
Traveling stitches are fun and all, but proper double-knit cables are really phenomenal. This pattern combines true double-knit cables with textured double-knitting to create that “pop” that cables have -- but on both layers.
In addition, there’s a labor-intensive but wholly worthwhile double-knit i-cord cast-on that gives the edge that finished look and also echoes the shape of the cables. And, for completeness’ sake, there’s also a headband version which uses a corresponding double-knit i-cord bind-off.
The hat is 8.5” tall from brim to crown and a hat with a 19 (22, 24)” circumference uses approximately 53 (60, 68) g of each color; the headband is approximately 4.4” tall and a headband with a 19 (22, 24)” circumference uses approximately 31 (36, 40) g of each color.
