A bright and beautiful blanket made up of squares made in the tapestry crochet technique. The squares feature a pattern of stitches which look like hearts bursting out from the centre, which is why I named the design the ‘Heart Burst’ blanket. The pattern contains instructions for tapestry crochet and there are some handy tips included. There is also a chart for reference.

The pattern uses DK weight yarn and a 4 mm hook (you may like to use a smaller hook depending on your tension)
The blanket measures 94 x 76cm (approx. 37 x 30 inches) in size, you could of course make a larger blanket by increasing the number of squares.

Each square measures approx. 18 cm / 7 inches.

Tension is not critical for this project, but may affect the yarn quantities required.

For my blanket I used Cygnet DK yarn in shades:
• Main Colour = White x 4 balls (approx. 330g used)
Contrast colours
• Daffodil x 2 balls (approx. 120g used)
x 1 ball of each:
• Peppermint (approx. 70g used)
• Pink (approx. 50g used)

Any similar double knit yarn would be a suitable alternative. For example, Stylecraft Special DK or Paintbox Simply DK.

The pattern also includes information on joining the squares and how to crochet a simple but effective border.

The pattern is written in both UK & US terms, you will receive 2 digital files - just pick the one you prefer to use.
