HAZEL’S STRIPES is a long, rectangular wrap, which begins at one corner with just a few stitches and is worked on the bias towards the opposite corner. The stripes are criss-crossed and interrupted by columns of slipped stitches that drag the colour onwards, like a finger dragged through marbling ink. The wrap looks elegant wrapped around the shoulders, or worn as a scarf and is an elegant edition to a hand-made wardrobe for men or women.

This pattern can be worked with 3 skeins of 4ply/fingering weight yarn: 2 main colour and 1 contrast colour, or it can be worked with 2 main colour skeins and a multitude of small amounts of yarn from past projects. To assist with the second option using up all the odd bits yarn, I’ve included instructions for weighing the yarn as you go. I have also included instructions for using 3 whole skeins, so you have the options.

RECOLLECTION
Hazel’s Stripes is part of Recollection, a collection of accessories and garments designed specifically to highlight oddments of special skeins, material memories of projects, friendships, holidays and occasions.
These materials, with which we spend so much time when we knit, become impregnated with the memory of that project: the places we knit it, the person the nished object went to, the way we felt when we made it. Those things, feelings and memories are precious. This collection is designed to honour those memories, bringing them together in a conscious way to make a new knit incorporating those precious remnants.
