I am very smitten with the Twisted Fifties Fadients by Dibadu. Especially the limited editions of the Murmeliewelten sets she offers every month. Hasta la Pasta is the second design which does each individual color justice as well as the whole gradient. It’s a modular folly that resembles Fusili pasta.

Hasta la Pasta consists of a waxing and a waning part. Therefore, you can use any yarn weight and knit any size you want. Simply knit the waxing part until you have used a certain amount of yarn and then continue with the waning part. You don’t even need to knit a swatch. Just use a needle that will give your work a nice drape.

The size will depend on the tightness of your knitting and the number of modules you can get out of one skein. My Hasta la Pasta made of Murmeliewelt Augoria is 11“/28cm wide and 84“/213cm long.

Of course, you can use other yarns as well. I recommend that you choose two different colors that go well together but that are distiguishable enough to make out the design. Two solids, two color gradients, a solid combined with a gradient, all these combinations will work nicely.

I knittied a second version pairing two Lace Balls by Schoppel Zauberball. I knitted with two strands of the same color to get fingering weight but with a longer color gradient and used the colors: Herbstzeitlosen and Tee Zeremonie to create a shawl of 98”/249cm length and 11”/28cm width.

Although Hasta la Past is a modular knit there is no seaming involved. To create the shapes I applied short rows with the wrap and turn method. You will find photo tutorials on this technique as well as the joining methods. If you prefer other short row methods they can be used as well.

All instructions are given in written and charted form along with graphics to explain the setup. The instructions are very easy to follow and once you get the idea you might not need the instructions a lot. However, I have written out and charted all parts in case you feel more comfortable following each and every one. This made the pdf quite large, hence I offer the written and charted version in two separate pdf files.
