Pattern notes
These simple, graphic mittens begin with a garter stitch cuff. The mitten body is worked in a colourwork and texture pattern, following a chart. The thumb position is marked with waste yarn and the mitten top is shaped by decreases. The waste yarn is removed, stitches are picked up and an afterthought thumb is added. An i-cord bind off—which is picked up and worked around each cuff edge— lends the mittens a neat finish.
