Harakeke Vest
This pattern is available
for $4.95.
Harakeke is the Maori word for flax. Traditionally, Maori women have used flax for weaving both useful everyday items and beautiful ceremonial pieces. Some weaving is incredibly intricate and when I saw this cable pattern I was instantly reminded of this traditional craft, hence the name of this little vest.
The vest is worked from the bottom up, and is knitted in the round until you need to separate for the armholes.
This pattern is part of The New Zealand Collection which is available as an ebook comprising 20 patterns (some for women, some for men and some for children).
