Hara Sweater
Construction notes
The Hara sweater is a compound raglan, which means that increases are worked at a variety of intervals, so as to more closely follow the shape of the body from neck to underarm. Working your sweater in this method, you can achieve a better fit than using the classic raglan increases in every second round.
This comfy sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down. First the neck ribbing is worked in the round and then the neck is shaped by working short rows back and forth. When all neck shaping is done the yoke is again worked in the round. After all raglan increases are done, sleeve sts are placed on hold to work the body first to the lower 1x1 ribbed hem. Sleeve stitches are picked up again to work the sleeves top down in the round to the 1x1 ribbed cuffs.
Hara is actually my youngest daughter’s name and it means joy in Greek. Enjoy it!
