Hap-Lapghan
For a modern take on the traditional, Kirsten Kapur designed a square blanket inspired by the everyday hap (handknitted; often square) shawls of Shetland. Sized somewhat between a lap robe and afghan, Kirsten’s “lapghan” is knitted outward from a few stitches at the center. Bold stripes that graduate in size give movement and depth to the center of the piece and make way for a dynamic chevron border that contrasts nicely with the bold center squares in a uniquely modern design. Worked in a natural-colored wool-alpaca blend, this lofty blanket invites snuggling on cold winter evenings.
