Hand Gussets
What happens when you reverse the usual way of making mitts? Hand gussets, of course. The two-by-two ribbing makes the fabric stretchy enough to fit a wide range of hands, suitable for a man or a woman.
The pattern includes instruction for a tubular cast on which the gives an edge as elegant as an infinity pool. Pairs of increases and decreases send the wrist section in the direction of the thumb, then transitions seamlessly into a gusset for the hand. Knit to the end and try out the directions for a tubular bind off that exactly mirrors the cast-on. Of course, you can substitute your favorite cast-on and bind-off if you prefer.
The September 2016 update to the pattern corrects a problem with Row 6.
Thanks to bear-ears for doing the pattern layout for me.
