Half 'n Half
Half ‘n Half is a simple raglan top down sweater with details in structure and color. Half of the body is worked in garter stitch, hence the name – and the lovely gradient colors add an extra bit of interest to this simple knit.
Stitches are cast on for the back and shoulders, and the sweater is worked flat until you join the front. From there, you will work in the round until you reach the required length to split for the sleeves. The body is then worked in the round until the hem. The set aside stitches for the sleeves are picked back up, and sleeves are worked in the round until the intended length. Finally, stitches are picked up along the neckline to work a short rib.
The John Arbon Knit by Numbers series has a fine range of gradients. Every color change had me smiling, and seeing the gradient come together was a fun detail while working on this. Note that if you want to keep the gradient in even portions, you will need more than the total yardage for the sweater (see tables in the images). Adjusting the length of the color panels can bring your total down. To help with this, I have added the yardage used per size in addition to how many skeins to use of each color.
