HAAKON PULLOVER
Haakon is an adult version of Little Haakon from my book The Nordic Knitting Primer. I wanted to include a traditional Norwegian “kofte” in my book, so I came up with this unique approach to knitting a kofte, and I’m crazy about it. If you are new to purling in colorwork, please don’t shy away from knitting this sweater. I designed this sweater with only four rows (on the entire sweater) of simple colorwork that you need to work on the purl side. l. It’s the perfect gateway project for purling in colorwork. Its unique construction is a blast to knit. The body is knit bottom up, then split into the front and the back and worked separately. The stitches for the sleeves are picked up and knit top down in the round. Finally, the stitches for the neckband are picked up and worked in colorwork. I love this design so much, I had to make it for grownups. This is a unisex pattern , so look at the finished chest measurement to decide which size is the best for you. Knit with Aran weight yarn, it works up in a flash. For advanced knitters, it’s a super fun quick knit!
