Groot's Cardigan of the Galaxy
The first in the Cardigans of the Galaxy * series, this cozy cardi lets you wrap yourself up in the character Groot. Paired with a cushy 100% Targhee yarn, you + this pattern make for an Awesome Mix:)
The sweater is worked seamlessly from the top-down in a heavy worsted/light aran yarn, and features a tree-like cable panel (both charted and written out) on the back with smaller cables along the v-neck front that mimic the look of branches.
The set-in sleeves are worked after the bodice is complete by picking up stitches all around the armscye and shaping the cap with short rows. The cardi is seamless except for the patch pockets which are worked separately, and sewn on later.
The fit is a relaxed grandpa-style, intended to be worn with 1-3” of positive ease. The model measures to a 33” bust and is wearing size 35”.
Looking for the exact yarn I used in the special developed-for-this-pattern colorway? Spirit Trail Fiberworks is doing dyed-to-order right here!
* Ooga Chaka! Look for a cardigan each for Rocket, Gamora, Quill, and Drax coming up throughout 2018. And maybe 2019…because you need time to knit them all up, and I’m not 100% Dick.
* So tempted to write up the pattern page saying only “I Am Groot. I am Groot…” /sorrynotsorry
