Fingerless gloves are fun and quick to knit and these combine several colors in their stranded colorwork. They look grand with the matching cowl (pattern not included here) or on their own.

I had so much fun knitting these in the original long version in black and white, I turned around and knit another pair in shorter version in blue and gold but with a longer thumb. All versions are included herein for a really customizable pattern. Two sizes are given: M/L, and XL. Both sizes have the main pattern motif centered on the back of the hand and an integrally inserted thumb gussets with their own chart. Both pairs shown in the photos here were knit in size M/L.

This pattern is suitable for the intermediate knitter familiar with following a chart for the colorwork. I have included several tutorial links that should be sufficient to help most knitters with the unusual or lesser used techniques that appear in this project : a provisional cast-on, and a folded picot hem. I have knit these entirely with double pointed needles but have generalized the instructions so that knitter who use other needle set-ups can still follow the directions.

Yarn: Red for cuffs, black and white (or natural) for the main colorwork motifs (or 2 other strongly contrasting colors as shown with the blue and yellow). Gold for accent. Solid or lightly tonal colored yarns only. Variegated colors will absolutely not work for this pattern.
