Greykjavik Shawl
This plush shawl is knitted with one strand of wool held together with one strand of lace weight mohair silk. Cast on and work single color brioche with increases to gradually expand the size. A decrease is added to create a biased detail in the fabric. The rhythmic rows are very relaxing to knit. Maximize the size by knitting as many repeat as you like or simply bind off early for a smaller size. You can hold one strand of fingering weight and one strand lace weight mohair for a lightweight version or knit a winter weight version with one strand DK weight held together with one strand lace weight mohair.
Finished Measurements:
63″ / 160cm wingspan length, 47″ / 120cm at widest part. Measurements taken after blocking.
Yarn:
Fingering (DK) weight held together with lace weight
Choose Fingering weight as your base yarn for a lighter weight version or choose DK weight as your main base yarn for a thicker winter weight. You can knit this shawl without mohair if you want a wool only version. The mohair marl adds a beautifully soft halo to the fabric.

Color Note:
The green DK weight sample features the same two colors held together throughout the entire fabric. The grey sample features three speckled shades of grey hand dyed fingering weight wool held together with one grey mohair color. For a similar faded version, collect 3 close colorways of fingering weight wool (Colors A, B & C). Start with the first fingering weight color (Color A) held together with lace weight mohair until you have about 20g remaining of the fingering weight Color A. Then, stripe Colors A & B (1 RS/WS row of each color) until you run out of color A. Use Color B on its own until you have about 20g remaining of Color C. Remember to always hold one strand of lace weight mohair silk together with your wool throughout the entire fabric. Once you run out of color B, finish the shawl with Color C.
