Like its mother, the Gretna Jumper, the Gretna Hat is densely cabled with a touch of eyelets, texture, and soothing ribbed knitting. The meeting of longwool fibers and cables is pretty magical and a bit unexpected. The fabric feels lightweight, and the lustrous quality of the fibers seem to perfectly define each stitch as they cross one another. These are the qualities that make the Gretna hat a lovely project for the cool seasons.

To determine your size, measure the circumference of your head at the widest point - from the most prominent part of the forehead (approx 1.5” / 3.75 cm above the eyebrow) around to the widest part of the back of the head. Select a size with 0 to 3” / 7.5 cm of negative ease.
Finished Length:

23.5 sts x 30 rnds = 4” / 10 cm in Cable pattern with Needle A
Always use the needle size that results in the correct gauge.

CONSTRUCTION NOTES
The Gretna Hat is worked in the round from the bottom up. I recommend using stitch markers to keep track of pattern repeats. When working from charts or written instructions, take care to work from the correct instructions for your size.
