The Gretchen cowl is a simple Garter stitch knit.
The finishing though turns it into a chic accessory that can be worn many ways, as you can see in the photos.
The yarn as shown here makes it POP, so be sure to use a textured thick and thin yarn to get the desired look.
For sizes 34/36”, 38/40”,42/44”, 46/48”, 50/52”.
Can easily be made wider and longer, more yarn will be needed.

Yarn
Textured yarn cakes, 250 yards per cake in a light fingering weight, thick & thin texture.
3/4/4/5/5 skeins, 740/863/987/1110/1235 yards used with 2 strands of yarn held together throughout.

Alternatively use a sport weight yarn, same textures 370/432/495/555/628 yards.
Notions used
US size 5 (3.5 mm) circular needle 32” (81 cm) in length.
Darning needle
Gauge
16 sts and 24 rows in 4” of Garter stitch, counting 12 ridges, unblocked.
Techniques used
Knitting, binding off, stretchy bind off, seaming. Blocking optional, this sample was left unblocked for a more organic look and feel.
