Winter Doldrums Sale!! Need a new project?? Take 20% off of all patterns currently in the shop (excluding Wildflowers Cardigan) January 26th through February 14th. Simply use the coupon code doldrums during checkout. This sale is good for any new pattern purchase and there is no limit.

For this beret I created a cabled ‘roots’ pattern that flows into various leaf and vine patterns on the top of the hat. This is an intermediate pattern - you will need to be able to follow charts, as well as create easy cables.

Yarn: Version #1: Elsebeth Lavold Silky Tweed (45% wool, 35% silk, 20% nylon); 192 yds/175 m per 1.75 oz/50g – 1 skein each, MC is color #45/Forest, CC in color #54/Coffee Bean Brown
Version #2: Aslan Trends Santa Fe (85% merino wool, 15% polyamide); 180 yds/165 m per 1.75 oz/50g) – 1 skein each, MC is color #1327/Jungle Rain, CC is color #1320/Garden Shades

Needles: US size 4, 16” circular needle and US size 4 dpns, or size needed to get gauge
Gauge: 24 sts x 36 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch
(Please note I’ve used a smaller needle size than recommended for this yarn (Silky Wool), since I liked the slightly denser fabric it produced. If you substitute yarns, keep this in mind.)

Pattern was updated May 2010, if you purchased the pattern before then, please contact me for the new version.
