The Greek Fire Shawl is named for that fearsome weapon of the Byzantine Empire. Greek Fire was also known as “Sea Fire” and comes from the heart-stopping, fear-striking quality of the weapon: it burned on land and water. Imagine seeing that when you attempted to invade by sea!

The design of the shawl is an attempt to capture the rolling of the waves as the fire slowly creeps towards its intended target - a chilling sight to behold and yet so beautiful when knitted up!

Using short-rows, slipped stitches, and simple color play, Greek Fire is sure to amuse and entertain while you knit up this beautiful shawl.

Size: 70 inches along the top edge X 15” along center line. This is the size of the blocked sample and as such, due to blocking differences, gauge differences, and knitter’s preferences, your shawl may be a different size.
