Great Pelfe
Great Pelfe is a simple but spectacular wrap that uses a slowly transitioning gradient yarn with a solid. The stitch pattern is a snap to memorize, and watching the color changes happen is both hypnotic and exciting (yes, those words can be used in the same sentence!).
You can also use self-striping yarns, and the stitch pattern breaks up any pooling that a variegated yarn may tend to do.
You will need:
- 560 yards of both your solid and your gradient (more, if you want to make the wrap longer).
- US size 5 (3.75mm) 20” circular needle
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
The finished size of the wrap is 15” wide by 61” long.
The sample shown is worked in Kauni Wool 8/2 Solids, color NNS (Beige), and Kauni Wool 8.2 Effektgarn, color EP (gradient).
This is a good project for the Advanced Beginner to practice changing colors, and is a perfect project for the more advanced knitter who needs a zen-inducing project.
