I have based the pattern and colors of this scorpion on a species called the Deathstalker scorpion (Leiurus quinquestriatus), which lives in Northern Africa and the Middle East. It is concidered to be a very dangerous scorpion, but most often the sting is only very painful for healthy adults. I can assure you that this crocheted version is completely harmless and utterly huggable :)
