Grasmere Beanie
The Grasmere beanie conjures up the image of a Lake District landscape in spring, with carpets of native daffodils turning their yellow glowing heads to the sun. The focus of the design, is indeed, daffodils dancing around the circumference of the hat, with stylised leaves creating a stunning decorative pattern. The crown of the hat, features a sun burst shining down on the glorious narcissi.
A striped corrugated ribbed welt is the starting point before the stranded colourwork pattern commences. The pattern is worked using stranded colourwork technique throughout with no more than two colours in any one row and is shown on a full colour chart with all crown shaping included. As this beanie is worked in the round, all lines of the chart are read from right to left.
The pattern includes instructions for four adult sizes to ensure a perfectly fitting beanie
Grasmere is knitted using our Bluem, fingering weight yarn, 100% Bluefaced Leicester wool, in five beautiful shades reflecting the colours of Spring in the Lake District.
Susan is shown wearing the 3rd size beanie to fit 50-55cm (20-22in) head circumference.
The pattern includes instructions for four sizes and contains clear written instructions plus full colour charts and a helpful schematic drawing.
A yarn kit is available at Susan Crawford Vintage.
